This book was declared 2017 Winner in the Arts & Entertainment category by the Independent Press Award. It is a funny and real look at how passion for one’s music, and resolve for a music career can be challenged by hard facts of the entertainment industry, and life in general. Childhood friends turned songwriting partners, Theo and Judah, embark on a plan to record their own music by enrolling in a school with a professionally equipped studio. They form a band through the music department, and perhaps too quickly head out on a mini-tour of the Northwest with many bumps along the way. This edition includes links to music tracks embedded in the chapters. Check the edition entitled “Built in Music” for the option of listening within the book itself. Attracted at first by the means within the school to professionally record their own original music, the two friends embark on what could be a lifelong journey. But the endeavor has an alternate effect, as Theo begins to question his musical efforts with Judah. Entanglements with co-eds quickly complicate matters. Theo and Judah hit as many rough spots as any amateur band may find along the way, including a disastrous mini-tour of the northwest during spring break. Little do they know, the misfortunes have just begun…

Barnaby Hazen is an author, editor and musician. Along with his friend Coby he started the Seven Eleven Stories periodical in 2014. He also writes and edits an education based journal, The Bud Hawthorne Revue, along with Mr. Hawthorne himself. His first full-length book is out on Amazon: "Seven Eleven Forgotten and Other Stories." This book was the founding concept of convenience store fiction. "Misfortunes of T-Funk" is his newest series.
